FERIENHAUS NUFENEN

Location

The Rheinwald, as the uppermost section of the Hinterrhein Valley is called, attracts visitors with a wide variety of hiking opportunities, ski tours and attractive offers of soft tourism in winter as well as in summer. The spectacular Viamala Gorge, the high valley of Avers and the southern side of the Alps with Misox and Ticino are also ideal for day trips. A detour over the Splügen Pass and you find yourself in Italy. Nufenen is a Walser village with a long history of agriculture and mule-trading. Today, about 130 people still live here year-round.

Nufenen is located on the A13 and has excellent transport connections. From Chur, Thusis and Bellinzona the Postauto fast train runs several times a day.

The Volg store in the village covers everyday needs, the alpine dairy sells high-quality dairy products in organic quality, the pretty farm store in the "Schloss" offers the best home-made food and local handicraft products. In Splügen there is a larger Volg, an excellent cheese store, a bakery and a speciality butcher's store as well as a number of well-kept inns, and also two sports stores. The skiing area of Splügen is family-friendly and attractive with six lifts. The valley also offers more than 30 km of cross-country ski trails between Sufers and Nufenen, ranging from easy to demanding. The artificial ice field of Splügen turns into a tennis court in summer. In Andeer, 15 minutes down the valley, the spa promises a relaxing afternoon in the warm water.
